About Me:
Hollis King is the former Vice President and Creative Director of the Verve Music Group the largest Jazz label in the world. Responsible for Art Direction of cd packaging, advertising, logos, videos, point of purchase advertising and signage. Hollis moved from his native Trinidad to New York where he studied advertising and design at New York City Community College. He later transferred to School of Visual Arts where he studied with the famed Milton Glaser, his greatest inspiration and influence. Hollis worked in several design studios and did work for clients including Tropicana, Chanel,American Express, Clairol and AT&T. Following that Hollis entered the music industry as a graphic designer at GRP records and later became Creative Director. Two years later he joined the Verve Music Group receiving numerous citations including several Grammy nominations, awards including Communication Arts awards of Excellence, Graphis, several AIGA outstanding Merit, Print,365, Society of illustrator Awards.Currently Hollis King runs his own design and consulting buisness, Clients include Universal Music, Dreyfus Records France, Motema Records. Skintrium Body Products.Hollis King does guest lecturing at colleges,judged Communication Arts Annual, judged society of illustrators Annual, Reviews Portfolios for Art Directors Club, School of Visual Arts, New York City Technical College.
